Think? Feel? Believe?

Internal alignment check for how we perceive and act on any given topic

by Anton Zemlyanoy | Self-Talk

Think of a topic you're facing where something feels off. You know what you need to do, but for some reason something isn't "flowing".

I've seen this many times: when what we THINK we need to do misaligns with how we FEEL about it, pros and cons lists will be of little value. This is because you are trying to work out a solution only in the logical sphere, while you could be held down by your emotions, or beliefs about whatever you're facing.

There is a concept I once learned called "rational truth vs emotional truth". When these "truths" misalign - that's where the stuckness often happens.

Put your topic through these three questions and you may discover what's going on inside of you that's causing that lack of "flow" or a lack of fluidity with moving forward.

What do you think about this topic?

(try to answer first)

How do you feel about it?

(once again, try to answer this question first)

What do you believe about it?

(the first belief that comes up)

These questions will help you check how aligned (or misaligned) you are in different aspects of yourself around your chosen topic. Each aspect informing and shaping one another, for the sum of how you are in relationship to that which you’re facing.

When there is misalignment, moving ahead will be harder. You may notice your own resistance, or inner turbulence, towards taking the steps. Hello, procrastination - a good sign that something is misaligned.

Try this out.

Knowing where we stand, internally, can help us gain clarity on what are our options for moving towards alignment. Or, clarity that we will choose to move forward while experiencing this misalignment, but accepting that you will feel this discomfort.
